Quests
The quests for Year 6 during 2024-25 are:
Autumn: Heroes and Villains
Spring: Journeys
Summer: Fiesta!
Below is some more information about the quest and the exciting learning that Year 6 will be completing.
Spring Term
Our Spring Term quest is 'Journeys'. Throughout the quest, we will explore rivers and mountains, alongside our core text 'Survivor'. We will also look at key historical figure Nelson Mandela, and link it to another text 'Journey to Jo'Burg'. In Science, we will be exploring the Circulatory System and Classification.
Homework
Homework is set twice weekly via CGP Books - pupils will record the page numbers in their homework diaries.
Monday - Maths due Friday
Wednesday - English due Monday
Spelling will be set each Monday (children will sticks lists into their homework diaries), and tested the following Monday.
Homework diaries will continue to be checked every Monday. This is to ensure children keeping up with their homework, and parents and carers are aware of home learning tasks.
Reading at Home
Reading at home is always greatly encouraged, and to support this children can work towards earning an award at the end of each term. This year, children will work towards earning Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Reading awards will be presented at the end of each term in the Governors' Assembly.
Autumn Term target - 6 uploads
Spring Term - 4 uploads
Summer Term - 6 uploads
At the start of each term, the reading count will begin from zero.
If your child is successful in all three terms, they will receive a 'Reading Year' award at the end of the school year.
PE
PE is on Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days.
